The beach is never far away when you are in Amsterdam. The city itself
has a real beach at the IJ.

Blijburg is a cozy city beach bar where regular
parties are given and is less than fifteen minutes from Central Station.
Here you can eat, drink and enjoy various types of music. T
here is also a fire pit and fireplace.

In IJmuiden aan Zee – has a huge wide beach - you can do sports
from kitesurfing and golfsurfing to blokarting and flyboarden.

Zandvoort aan Zee is less than half an hour from the city. There are
many relaxing beach bars where you can eat and where there is

in hotspots like Bloomingdale.

Surrounding area

Looking beyond the Amsterdam city limits, there is still much
to discover. Smaller towns close-by, including Haarlem,
Zaandam and Edam, are not only historic and quaint, but offer
rich cultural opportunities with their museums, markets and
hospitality. For those looking to escape the city and relax,
Amsterdam's proximity to the North Sea means picturesque
beach resorts are only a short ride away.
These are perfect for family outings, and for those looking
to party.

For Amsterdam and surroundings the year 2010 is the year of Water
Sensations. Amsterdam and water are inextricably linked. The city
was not only founded on water, but water plays amajor role still.
Throughout the year events which are linked to water are organized
in the capital Amsterdam and show that its citizens utilise their lives
on the Amsterdam waterfront to the fullest.
